4.7 from 186 Google reviewsDartford town sits in a dip where the Darent runs down to the Thames, and the housing around the middle of it is mostly Victorian and Edwardian terraces with narrow side returns and rear additions bolted on later. Crayford, a mile or so west, is a London borough address with a Dartford postcode. Barnes Cray, between the two, is smaller and quieter than either.
That mix is why no two calls here look the same. A leak in a 1890s terrace off the town centre and a leak in one of the newer riverside blocks are different jobs with different answers, and pretending otherwise is how people end up paying twice.
Finding the stopcock in a Dartford terrace

Both, in a sense, and it confuses people constantly. Crayford’s postal address is Dartford DA1, but the streets themselves sit in the London Borough of Bexley. It makes no difference to us. If your postcode starts DA1, you are covered.
Do you come out to Barnes Cray?
Yes. Barnes Cray, Crayford and Dartford town are all DA1 and all on the same round. It is one of the smaller localities on the list, which sometimes means people assume it gets skipped. It does not.
My water is off but only upstairs. What causes that?
On a gravity system, upstairs is usually fed from a tank in the loft while the kitchen tap comes straight off the main. So a fault in the tank, the ball valve or the cold feed takes out everything except that one tap. It is a common one and it is rarely serious.
